National Farm and Countryside Safety Week 2010
FBD is supporting National Primary Schools Farm and Countryside Safety Week from the 18th -22nd of October 2010.
Agri Aware, which is co-ordinating this vital awareness project, has sent free resources to every school in the country, urban and rural, which challenges children to communicate the importance of staying safe to their peers. Schools can choose to develop a poster campaign, write a poem or newsletter to raise awareness of the issue during the week. Farms and the countryside have hidden dangers, and this project engages pupils to examine and promote awareness of these. The initiative is supported by FBD, ESB Networks and the HSA.
Agri Aware are asking schools to send in a sample of their posters, poems or newsletters and one school will win a trip to a local farm and €500. During the week there is a farm and countryside safety trail in Family Farm in Dublin Zoo. For more information check out www.agriaware.ie or contact Agri Aware on 01-4601103
